EGIS

Digital Companion. How does technology bridge the gap between visits?
In cardiac care, treatment success rarely ends with a prescription. The real challenge begins at the patient’s home, in the so-called dead zone between visits. The statistics are clear: irregular medication use is one of the main reasons why treatment for hypertension is ineffective.
Together with EGIS Pharmaceuticals, we created a system that transforms a smartphone into an intelligent therapy assistant, building a bridge between the doctor’s recommendations and the patient’s everyday life.
Challenge: A prescription is not a habit
We are faced with a paradox: we have access to effective pharmacological treatment, but we lose control over it once the patient leaves the pharmacy.
Challenges faced by sales teams:
Problem
Treatment effectiveness depends on the patient’s daily discipline, yet many patients feel overwhelmed by their dosing regimen and forget to take measurements.
Tension
A prescription alone does not build a habit. Without support, patients can easily fall out of their treatment routine, while doctors are forced to rely on guesswork during follow-up visits because very few patients keep a reliable paper diary.
Context
EGIS was looking for a way to provide patients – including older people – with real support through a tool that fits into their existing habits rather than complicating them.
Solution: Designing with
resistance in mind
We designed an app ecosystem (My Medications and My Blood Pressure) that is not another obligation, but rather discreet support. We focused on three pillars:
- Accessibility without compromise
- Real-time support
- Data that supports decision-making

Why this matters for HealthCare
The EGIS project proves that treatment effectiveness can be improved not only through a new drug molecule, but also through well-designed digital tools. Technology fulfills its role when it is used regularly – which is why the key to success was not the number of features, but simplicity, accessibility, and a deep understanding of patients’ everyday habits.
